Editorial Guidelines
Last updated: 1 June 2026
These guidelines describe how dreamirc decides what to publish, how we research and check our work, and how we handle advertising and corrections. They're public because trust should be.
Who writes dreamirc
Every article is written by a named member of our editorial team or published under our shared The dreamirc Editors byline for collaborative, fact-checked guides. We do not publish under invented personas, and we do not claim expertise or credentials we don't hold. Where a writer draws on personal experience, we say so plainly ("I lived by this rule for 30 days"). Where a claim needs a source, we cite one.
How we research and test
- Hands-on first. Wherever a tip can be tried in a real home, an editor tries it before recommending it.
- Plain about psychology. When we write about how a room "feels", we draw on accessible ideas from design and everyday observation. We are a lifestyle magazine, not clinicians — we don't make medical or therapeutic claims.
- Sourced where it matters. Practical guides that reference safety, tenancy rules or product specifics link to reputable sources.
- Reviewed before publishing. The Editor-in-Chief reviews every long read for accuracy, tone and clarity.
Updates and corrections
Homes, products and rules change. We revisit evergreen guides periodically and mark them with an updated date. If we get something wrong, we want to fix it: email [email protected] with "Correction" in the subject. Substantive corrections are noted on the article itself.
Advertising, affiliates and independence
dreamirc is supported by advertising and, on some articles, affiliate links. Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships. Specifically:
- Display and native advertising is clearly labelled as Advertisement or Sponsored and is visually distinct from editorial content.
- Where an article contains affiliate links, a clear disclosure appears at the top of that article. Earning a commission never determines whether or how positively we cover something.
- We do not publish fake reviews, invented testimonials, or fabricated results, and we never disguise advertising as editorial.
What we won't do
No misleading clickbait — our headlines reflect what the article actually delivers. No unverified health or earnings claims. No content that we wouldn't be comfortable standing behind under our own names.
